We started our day with something that our whole family enjoys - cereal! Because it was the start of a very busy day (Labor Day!), we had a quick bowl of muesli with some sliced bananas and frozen blueberries. We drink plenty of liquid along with this meal, so that we are fully hydrated and energized for the start of our day. (We usually have other types of cereal along with, but more on that in another post.)

Our homemade muesli mix consists of old-fashioned and quick oats, unsalted cashews, pecan pieces, and sliced almonds, as well as dates or raisins. Some of us prefer different flavors, so we have several types of muesli. Some contain unsweetened coconut, while others include cinnamon or carob powder. This way we can cater to our different tastes. We buy most of the ingredients in bulk from Country Life Natural Foods rather than from a grocery store in order to save money when buying certain foods.

Here you can get a first hand look at what kind of food our family eats! All the photos were taken by Elizabeth on the day the food was eaten. Go ahead and try some things out for yourself!
