New Year's Day

New Year's Day! What fun! Every meal was greatly looked forward to, as Dad was the official gourmet chef for the day and took care of all the meals. Breakfast usually consisted of two large breakfast quiches with broccoli, mushrooms, peppers, and lots of other good things. Everyone dressed up and waited for the big arrangement that made up lunch. Dad had platters of vegetables and fruits and his all-hand-crafted dips to go with them. He'd also have platters of crackers, chips, cheeses, and breads, and dips to go with these as well. His dips are very famous in our family. He usually made at least six different kinds of dips for his New Year's Day feast, and every one of them went fast! One year the dips were: peanut butter, cinnamon, strawberry, veggie, mustard, and cheese. The dips and platters of food lined our 14-foot table from one side all the way to the other! And by the time everyone was finished almost all of that food had disappeared!
