Birthdays

Will says: "With a family of 14 children, there are a lot of birthdays to go around! Throughout the year, especially in the fall, there was either a birthday going on for someone or one coming soon. The tradition we had in our house was pretty special... and it all started when my oldest daughter Rachel was still quite young.
"On her birthday,  Rachel wanted to know if she could come with me, to my job I was doing at the time. I said sure, but that I would be working. She didn't care. She just wanted to be with me. And so that is how it all got started. I was taking everybody (except for the babies) to my jobs on their birthdays, and they loved it.
"Soon after that, I would take them to a couple of stores as well as a small job. Well, as time went on, I stopped going to my jobs and had a day of going to a number of fun places instead. They all loved it! They seemed to like spending a day with Dad, and they looked forward to it. I didn't mind, because I liked spending the day with them too."
